The cleanest. In the last year I have gone from the cheapest manual brushes that money can buy to the shittest electric money can buy and now finally to the absolute cheapest Phillips Sonicare model that money can buy and there is an instant difference.

It doesn't fix the gaping chasms that used to be tooth or fillings, the chunks of missing gum from years of gum disease before I starred actually cleaning my mouth or the front teeth so melted from sugar and drugs that you can see through them in bright light but it's a start

I vote to legalize all drugs with a hell of a lot of education. When people realize how dangerous all drugs are they will never start. There was a previous post about the legal poison berry bush. We have that attitude we will succeed. Maybe that is the reason things are the way they are now.

Fun fact the first time my little brother was given morphine he looked sideways at my mum and said "this reminds me of the first time I smoked a cigarette".

For a reference point he was like 19 by then and when I was that age my mum was aware I was coming home pinging on fistfuls of Es and stealing her opiates and benzos.

The pair of us were in pissfits over that one smoking a doobie that night

The only thing that's discriminatory is criminalising otherwise law-abiding citizens merely because they enjoy the experience of taking mind-altering substances. What's discriminatory is the associated social stigma and the totally arbitrary distinction between legal and illegal drugs.

I don't want a drug-free world (which isn't even doable unless you wanna live in the most draconian restrictive society imaginable), neither do I want a world full of addicts (and how exactly would you go about that, force people to take some shit on the daily by law??).

I want all popular substances to be produced and sold legally with all appropriate safeguards, so that those who wish to take them can do so in as risk-free a manner as possible. I want a world where you can freely choose what you put into your body without legal repercussions. I would want there to be a heavy emphasis on responsible use that maximises enjoyment while minimising possible harms. I too despise social media and this is the closest thing I have. If you get some sort of use out of it then go for it you don't seem like most redditards I've encountered in the wild so I guess a good one exists.

Ah you misunderstood my point about karma the reason I gave up is because 100 updoots on a post like that was too much and solidified my view of what a redditor is.

You had to have knowledge to earn that money. The more knowledge the more money. I worked several jobs on commission and earned nothing. I took that knowledge from those jobs and was able to use it to get to a job that was over 100K a year. I am now retired and forever learning.

I once nearly lost the end of my finger to a broom and I've set myself on fire a bunch of times and the other day my boss said there's a promotion right around the corner so it just goes to show we all fail upwards to the level of our incompetency

That is my point. Yes, anyone can get a shitty job. The more skills the more money. For him being a manager, he had knowledge that it is not what you know, it is who you know. Or he had knowledge if you stay there long enough you work your way up the ladder.

What Are the Five Stages of Change In Recovery?

The five stages of addiction recovery are precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action and maintenance. Read on to find out more about the various stages.

1. Precontemplation Stage of Addiction Recovery�
People who are in the first stage of addiction recovery aren't yet ready for any addiction treatment program. This phase is characterized by defensiveness and endless justification of their behavior. There's a clear lack of insight into the negative impact of excessive drug or alcohol use and a strong focus on the positive effects they experience from using their drug of choice.

Someone might remain in this stage due to a lack of information about addictive behaviors. Another reason we regularly see people get stuck in the precontemplation stage is disappointment with multiple failed attempts at recovery and treatment options. Most individuals in precontemplation feel that recovery simply isn't possible for them. The truth is that anyone can recover from any stage.

2. Contemplation Stage of Recovery�
The next phase is characterized by contemplative readiness. This means the person is ready to bring about change in the future, but not immediately. Unlike the previous stage, they're aware of the pros of becoming drug-free.

However, they are also still acutely aware of the benefits they perceive from alcohol or drug addiction. This is a critical stage for family members and treatment facilities because the person is more likely to listen to reason. By avoiding blame, judgment and accusations, it's possible to guide them to the next stage.

3. Preparation Stage of Addiction Recovery�
When it comes to the preparation stage, the individual is building a sense of urgency regarding their desire for sobriety. They've usually made steps toward taking action, such as intending to join a gym, seeing a counselor or attempting to quit addiction by themselves without attending a treatment center.

It's normal for people in this phase to go for a day or two without turning to drug or alcohol abuse, but it's also perfectly usual to see people jump back to contemplation or precontemplation in case triggers or difficult emotions arise.

4. Action Stage of Recovery�
During the action stage, the person has made significant changes in their lives and is committed to change. This stage of change is characterized by prolonged periods of abstinence and the inclination to turn to professionals for help before or after relapse.

It won't just be a case of halting the destructive behavior; change will be apparent in multiple aspects of their lifestyle. Self-care and self-understanding are both present in this treatment stage, but counseling is required to keep them on the right path.

5. Maintenance Stage of Addiction Recovery�
During the maintenance stage, the individual is working hard to prevent addiction recovery relapse. They're also keeping up the lifestyle changes they made, like getting regular exercise, recreational activities, staying sober, paying attention to sleep hygiene and attending support groups. They don't feel the urge to relapse as frequently as people in the action stage, so their confidence grows and they truly believe in their ability to maintain sobriety long term.

This stage can last from six months to five years, depending on the severity of the addiction and the individual's genes and experience. It takes a small minority of people six months of abstinence to reach the point where they don't go back to their addictive behavior. However, for most people, a commitment of two to five years is necessary to truly break the habit and solidify change.


In an earlier reply I mentioned anger being part of the 12 step. I was wrong. This is what I was thinking of.

I wish the haunted house was a year round. Since it's seasonal it pays shit but istg it's the best job you'll ever have. Alot more physically intense then you would think, but it's fun as fuck to watch grown as men get so scared they literally crawl away (true story has happened multiple times)

I jackhammer my own foot on a regular enough basis that it's a known thing but I am still one of our more promising employees. Watched a dude undo a pipe even though we talked about the clamp not being screwed all the way on like 3 seconds earlier, turned a simple "lower the box" job into a burst.

I saw what was about to happen and just walked away to get a pump instead of saying anything cos I've played this game before. You won't win

Denial can be the outright refusal to believe there is an issue. It can also be recognizing there may be a problem, but it isn't big enough to address.

Comparisons to others who have lost more than they have is a common justification and manipulation of themselves and others. Many addicts feel they do not have a problem because they are still employed.

I get my own back.

This morning we had an asbestos handling course. The very second the guy walked in I start talking about how we have a job to do afterwards after spending all day yesterday telling him we'd have to go do a job after.

....because we had a different job to go to.

It's normal for people in this phase to go for a day or two without turning to drug or alcohol abuse, but it's also perfectly usual to see people jump back to contemplation or precontemplation in case triggers or difficult emotions arise.

4. Action Stage of Recovery�
During the action stage, the person has made significant changes in their lives and is committed to change. This stage of change is characterized by prolonged periods of abstinence and the inclination to turn to professionals for help before or after relapse.

It won't just be a case of halting the destructive behavior; change will be apparent in multiple aspects of their lifestyle. Self-care and self-understanding are both present in this treatment stage, but counseling is required to keep them on the right path.

5. Maintenance Stage of Addiction Recovery�
During the maintenance stage, the individual is working hard to prevent addiction recovery relapse. They're also keeping up the lifestyle changes they made, like getting regular exercise, recreational activities, staying sober, paying attention to sleep hygiene and attending support groups. They don't feel the urge to relapse as frequently as people in the action stage, so their confidence grows and they truly believe in their ability to maintain sobriety long term.

This stage can last from six months to five years, depending on the severity of the addiction and the individual's genes and experience. It takes a small minority of people six months of abstinence to reach the point where they don't go back to their addictive behavior. However, for most people, a commitment of two to five years is necessary to truly break the habit and solidify change.

We all have to realize there is a time and a place for everything. People should and must have the conversations we are having here about Philosophy, only they should be done on a Philosophy Thread. Of course. I saw Empire and Jedi in the movie theater. To young for the first one. The prequel got worse and worse.
But the came the true disgrace the Sequels.

I know that blowing up another Death Star with one little potentially catastrophic flaw is really weak and lame but look at the ending of empire.
That wasn't a full movie in my opinion.

Hold it, are you a Trekkie trying to be slightly less of a nerd. Most think 4 was the best, so by power of deduction your favorite was the one with Han Solo frozen in carbonite, Luke getting a high quality fake hand and The Rebellion fleeing and in hiding and in bad shape.
That is an awful ending. It only works if watch all 3 originals in a row.
