All in the Family is an American sitcom television series that aired on CBS for nine seasons from January 12, 1971, to April 8, 1979, with a total of 205 episodes. It was later produced as Archie Bunker's Place, a continuation series, which picked up where All in the Family ended and ran for four seasons through April 4, 1983.

Based on the British sitcom Till Death Us Do Part, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-2 All in the Family was produced by Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin. It starred Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers, and Rob Reiner. The show revolves around the life of a working-class man and his family. It broke ground by introducing challenging and complex issues into mainstream network television comedy: racism, antisemitism, infidelity, homosexuality, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-3 women's liberation, rape, religion, miscarriage, abortion, breast cancer, the Vietnam War, menopause, and impotence. The series became arguably one of television's most influential comedies, as it injected the sitcom format with more dramatic moments and realistic, topical conflicts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-7

All in the Family has been ranked as one of the best American television series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-all-time-8 The show became the most watched show in the United States during summer reruns of the first season https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-9 and topped the yearly Nielsen ratings from 1971 to 1976, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-10 the first television series to have held the position for five consecutive years. The episode "Sammy's Visit" was ranked number 13 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-11 TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time ranked All in the Family as number four. Bravo also named the show's protagonist, Archie Bunker, TV's greatest character of all time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-12 In 2013, the Writers Guild of America ranked All in the Family the fourth-best written TV series https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-13 In 2023, Variety ranked All in the Family number 16 on its list of the 100 greatest TV shows. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_in_the_Family#cite_note-14

This is a Dedicated to my Last Significant Other

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead" is a song in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. It is the centerpiece of several individual songs in an extended set-piece performed by the Munchkins, Glinda (Billie Burke) and Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) highlighted by a chorus of Munchkin girls (the Lullaby League) and one of Munchkin boys (the Lollipop Guild), it was also sung by studio singers as well as by sung by the Winkie soldiers. It was composed by Harold Arlen, with the lyrics written by E. Y. Harburg. The group of songs celebrate the death of the Wicked Witch of the East when Dorothy's house is dropped on her by the cyclone.

In 2004 a remix of "Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead" finished at #82 in AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of the top tunes in American cinema. In 2013, the song charted to #2 on the UK Singles Chart in the aftermath of the death of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Wizard of Oz is celebrated for its use of Technicolor, fantasy storytelling, musical score, and memorable characters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wizard_of_Oz#cite_note-5 It was a critical success and was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, winning Best Original Song for "Over the Rainbow" and Best Original Score for Stothart; an Academy Juvenile Award was presented to Judy Garland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wizard_of_Oz#cite_note-6 It was on a preliminary list of submissions from the studios for an Academy Award for Cinematography (Color) but was not nominated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wizard_of_Oz#cite_note-7 While the film was sufficiently popular at the box office, it failed to make a profit until its 1949 re-release, earning only $3 million on a $2.7 million budget, making it MGM's most expensive production at the time.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The Candy Man" (or alternatively, "The Candy Man Can") is a song that originally appeared in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Candy_Man#cite_note-1 It was written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley specifically for the film. Although the original 1964 book by Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) contains lyrics adapted for other songs in the film, the lyrics to "The Candy Man" do not appear in the book. The soundtrack version of the song was sung by Aubrey Woods, who played candy store owner Bill in the film. Newley recorded the song on his 1971 album Pure Imagination.

Sammy Davis Jr. version
Sammy Davis Jr.'s version appears on the Sammy Davis Jr. Now album. It became his only number-one hit, spending three weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart starting 10 June 1972, and two weeks at the top of the easy-listening chart. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Candy_Man#cite_note-auto-4 Billboard ranked it as the No. 5 song for 1972. The track featured backing vocals by the Mike Curb Congregation, who earlier released an unsuccessful version of the song. It is recognized as one of Davis's signature songs, and "The Candy Man" came to be his moniker later in his career. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male at the 15th Annual Grammy Awards.

Despite the record's commercial success, Davis himself disliked it, telling his manager "It's horrible. It's a timmy-two-shoes, it's white bread, cute-ums, there's no romance. Blechhh! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Candy_Man#cite_note-Breihan_2019-5 After hastily recording it in two takes at a studio session, he also reportedly said "This record is going straight into the toilet. Not just around the rim but into the bowl, and it may just pull my whole career down with it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Candy_Man#cite_note-Mojo_2022-6

In 2014, Sammy Davis Jr.'s lead vocals from the original 1972 recording were sampled to create a "virtual duet" with singer Barry Manilow, which appeared on Manilow's album My Dream Duets.

Yeah this is honestly the dumbest thread I've ever seen. I'm sure if it wasn't hilariously stupid it would've long since been removed.
500 posts within 4 days of joining has to be some kind of record in itself. All for him to do nothing but waste his time, lmao.

Yeah, don't waste your time watching those awesome music videos or anything.
Dude, you sound like you're either a child or you're in a fit of ketamine psychosis. The fact that I can't actually tell is hilarious to me 🤣
Literally every minute you're posting in here, and within not even 2 minutes already had something to say in response to my comment.

Dude says "don't watch television" and then posts a video from a television show. Ya' can't make this stuff up folks.
And just in case you haven't realized, YouTube is considered to be television in this day and age lol. Why do you think there's YouTube TV let alone TV commercial ads, at least if you're on console. I don't have to worry about ads on web.

Whether you're trolling or not (pretty likely), you can't drop in on this forum pretending to be the perfect hippie who only listens to music and is completely straight from any substances whilst also probably being in drug induced psychosis based on the absolutely wild amount of things you've said, and spending every possible amount of time you have sitting in front of a computer screen. At this point I'm not even sure if this dude is AI lmao. I don't know anymore with this stuff.

You watch YouTube; you watch television. Plain and simple lol. You linked me a television show through YouTube; you're watching television regardless.
Convey? My man you saying you don't watch television is as simple as it sounds lol. Yeah, people have free will. So let "alcohol drug addicts" do their thing, well aware of it being harmful, and you go blow up some other drug forum instead, because you're just amusing people with your own stupidity.

Anyway, I got nothing else to add. Enjoy being laughed at into page 345
Oh look, more television. You're a walking oxymoron my guy.

Edit: ok.... yeah.... about that probable drug psychosis OP is in. 1000% after reading some of the crazy delusional and religious gobbledygook holy absolute shit lmao wtf am I even reading

See how I do posting and typing? Uh... just fine lol. Quite a lot better than you, especially given I went to college graduating with a BA in English Studies and am in the process of writing a book.

You on the other hand: repeatedly ending sentences when you could've used commas, a missing semicolon (8th post above this) and just bad phrasing when it comes to trying to express the nonsense you're trying to spout.

You on the other hand: repeatedly ending sentences when you could've used commas, a missing semicolon (8th post above this) and just bad phrasing when it comes to trying to express the nonsense you're trying to spout.

This is what I was referring to. Natural selection and as a result evolution. Not an error. If you believe something else that's fine but that's my belief and knowledge on the topic.

Darwin was largely correct about most things as much as you could expect for the information at the time. Freud was a schizo sex pest.

You are not gonna believe this but so did I; I was between 2 and 3 years old and my parents brought me with them to the movie theater and I have only the slightest memories of it. I remember some images, but I was good kid and tried to sleep as the place kept erupting in laughter as I sat on my mom's lap.

I love semicolons; they keep me from writing too many run on sentences. By the way it is semicolon; HUH HUH, I SAID COLON.

I like the semicolon; but when did this turn into a 4th grade English class?
There are different grammar rules for British English, American English and druggie web site English.

Rules, there are no rules.

So I didn't watch the videos as I'm about to go out but I am familiar enough with Monty Python to comment.

In fact John Clease and Co were instrumental in forming my deranged sense of humour as some of the more savvy among you may have already guessed (all 2 of you who do not require a turn with the communal brain cell).

Two of my favourite movies were the Life of Brian and the Holy Grail.

Superb absurdist takes on absolutely all aspects of life (in Flying Circus too). The dead parrot sketch and the Spanish inquisition are to this day, absolute comedy gold.

They were truly ahead of their time.

Out of curiosity are we the Judean People's Front or the People's Front of Judea??

Holy Grail one of, if not, the best Comedy movie of all time.

LIfe of Brian, average at best. Did not have that Monty Python feel. Seemed like they were just going through the motions. I saw this First Run in the theater and this is one of those movies I was thinking when will it be over? Should not have to do that with Monty Python. The one nude scene sucked for the guys unless you are a bush man. The woman had her hair covering her tits the whole time. The ladies will like it, though.

With Darwin, it depends on what you mean by full of shit. Darwin has a theory of evolution. A lot of folks confuse this with a theory of creation. The two are different.

With Freud, everything is sex. Basically we have a hard wired prime directive to multiply, which influences every thought we have, which influences every action. At least, that is my understanding. We have to decide for ourselves whether or not he is full of shit. Also, he might have been the one who came up with the Id, Ego, Super Ego theory. It's fuzzy, but that might be the full of shit thing.

So now it appears like I really helped start this awful thread. I am truley sorry for my part; however I am not the first to give this thread life; to use an expression from a movie, he is gone like a fart in the wind. Erased his early posts and now I look the one to start this ridiculous thread. I swear I was not the first one. I ain't a snitch. That is what I am talking about, evolution is some funky shit. Evolution is mutation to adapt to environment. How efficient of a system is it where two entities are needed to reproduce. If we all had both parts, that sounds logical. One entity having one part, and one having the other does not.

Matter can be neither created or destroyed. I can just be changed.
So there has to God who created this vast Universe with over 20 billion galaxies that we know of and each with an average of around a trillion stars.
Our sun being average. Also there are stars thousands of time larger.

There has to be a God, a creator the universe didn't just appear by it self
The laws of physics and chemistry
Apply Universally even though we can't understand them all.

This magnificent and glorious universe is God's creation.

I was breastfeed as a baby and I still smoke so that's definitely bullshit. And people don't have anal sex because they weren't potty trained correctly. Like this is all crazy shit he fully believed. Hasn't it been determined that Darwin was full of shit? Or was that Freud?

Now I may look like the first to start debating and interacting with danfr2. This is not case even though it appears so. That is what I am talking about, evolution is some funky shit. Evolution is mutation to adapt to environment. How efficient of a system is it where two entities are needed to reproduce. If we all had both parts, that sounds logical. One entity having one part, and one having the other does not.

Anyway, I got nothing else to add. Enjoy being laughed at into page 345

So there has to God who created this vast Universe with over 20 billion galaxies that we know of and each with an average of around a trillion stars.

There has to be a God, a creator the universe didn't just appear by it self

In fact John Clease and Co were instrumental in forming my deranged sense of humour as some of the more savvy among you may have already guessed (all 2 of you who do not require a turn with the communal brain cell).

Two of my favourite movies were the Life of Brian and the Holy Grail.

Superb absurdist takes on absolutely all aspects of life (in Flying Circus too). The dead parrot sketch and the Spanish inquisition are to this day, absolute comedy gold.

They were truly ahead of their time.

Out of curiosity are we the Judean People's Front or the People's Front of Judea??

1 Atheist vs 25 Christians? The Christians are out numbered. About to watch video for first time. Might change my mind. Just saw the video is over 1 and a 1/2 hours long. About to watch SOME video for first time. Might change my mind. I just watched the first 23 seconds of the video.

The Catholic Church Teaches There Is Lucifer. Gonna keep watching.

Around 15 seconds he says "I do not know what is happening now, I will have to suspect....".

Claim One "Suffering Makes God's Existence Unlikely". Let us imagine there are only two religions in the world for this exercise. The first religion says have as much fun as you want to show our Love To God. The second religion says let us suffer as much as we can handle to show our Love To God. Which religion is truly showing love? To obtain anything there must be effort. Suffering is Effort. Acceptance of Suffering is acceptance of God's Will. For those who chose to believe. He makes a claim "If there is suffering how can there be a Good God"? All I can do, is make a counter claim. Back at that Catholic School we were taught we were created because God Wants Our Love. Angels Love God Because They Have To, We Have Free Will, We Love God Our Father Out Of Choice. Who is to say it is an easy one?
*******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Claim Two "God Commands Genocide In The Bible". My Father, "I brought you into this world, I will take you out of this world". Bill Cosby, "I brought you into this world, I will take you out of this world and make another one that looks just like you". Epstein's Father to Epstein's Mother, "You hit him now, my hand is tired". https://tabletalkmagazine.com/posts/did-god-command-genocide/
*********************************************************
The story in 1st Samuel, particularly chapter 15, is often considered to depict a potential act of genocide, where the Israelites are commanded by God to completely destroy the Amalekite people, including women and children, which is seen by many as a problematic passage in the Bible due to its violent nature; however, interpretations vary with some scholars arguing that the text should be understood within its historical context and not necessarily as a literal command for total annihilation.

Key points about the 1st Samuel 15 genocide debate:
The Amalekites:
The story in 1 Samuel centers around the Israelites being instructed to attack and destroy the Amalekites, a group historically portrayed as enemies of the Israelites.
The Command to Kill All:
The most controversial part is the command to kill "all that belongs to him [Amalek], spare no one, but kill alike men and women, infants and sucklings, oxen and sheep, camels and asses".
Remember my Father? Remember Bill Cosby?
Literal Genocide: Some interpretations take the text at face value, considering it a direct command from God to commit genocide against the Amalekites.
Symbolic Interpretation: Other scholars argue that the text should be understood metaphorically, representing a complete destruction of the Amalekite power and not necessarily a literal call to kill every single person
Modern Ethical Concerns:
Regardless of interpretation, the passage remains ethically problematic in modern times due to the idea of killing innocent civilians, including children.
*********************************************************
In the Bible, the Israelites destroyed Jericho and killed every person in the city, as well as many animals, in a genocide. The Israelites were following God's law.
How did the Israelites destroy Jericho?

Joshua led his army around the city walls for seven days
On the seventh day, the priests blew their ram's horns and the Israelites shouted a war cry
The walls of Jericho collapsed, killing everyone inside
Who was spared?

Rahab, her parents, brothers, and everyone who belonged to her were spared
They were incorporated into Israel

What was Joshua's curse?
Joshua cursed anyone who rebuilt the foundations of Jericho with the deaths of their firstborn child
He also cursed anyone who rebuilt the gates with the deaths of their youngest child
Hiel the Bethelite fulfilled these curses under King Ahab's reign
Archaeological evidence
Excavations at Jericho show that the mudbrick wall on top of the stone retaining wall collapsed and formed a pile of bricks that resembled a ramp *********************************************************
According to the Bible, the Lord wanted the destruction of Jericho because the inhabitants of the city were considered wicked and rebellious against God, and their land was part of the Promised Land which God had promised to the Israelites, making the conquest of Jericho a divine judgment against their evil practices; the fall of Jericho served as a demonstration of God's power and faithfulness to his covenant with the Israelites. Remember Epstein's' Parents? Remember when I kicked my Father in his balls?
Key points about the destruction of Jericho:
Canaanite wickedness:
The people of Jericho were Canaanites, a group often described in the Bible as practicing morally corrupt and idolatrous practices, which angered God.

Divine promise:
God had promised the land of Canaan to the Israelites, including Jericho, as part of their inheritance.

Symbolic act:
The destruction of Jericho was seen as a powerful symbol of God's ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and to deliver his people.

An Interesting point was made. Is the Bible a Literal Book? Is the Bible an Interpretive Book? How can it be Both? How can a Passage be both Literal and Interpretive? Sound like a miracle?

I love the fact that Ozzy can sing but not talk comprehensively. 20 or so years ago they use to have to have subtitles for him on his Family's reality show.

Tape worms are used as seasonal bait actually. They are about as popular as rag worms. Another gross tube shaped monster. Also a good example of why god died long ago

I said Monty Python was a tough act to follow, not impossible. Here is list of the Top 3 Rodney Dangerfield Appearances On The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

Rodney Dangerfield said the first time he had sex he was scared to death. It was dark and he was all alone.

The Who were a proto-punk band in the late 1960s, but are not typically considered a punk band. Phuck AI. The Who are the GrandDads of Punk.
John Entwistle is the Bassist. Many consider him the Greatest Bassist of the era. I am one of them. He had two nick names, "The Ox" and "Thunder fingers".
Keith Moon is the Drummer. Many consider him the Greatest Drummer of the era. I am one of them. He was nicknamed "Moon The Loon".

TheWho

Explanation
The Who were part of the garage-rock movement that gave rise to proto-punk bands.

The Who's harder sound influenced American garage bands in the 1960s.

The Sex Pistols often covered the Who's 1966 hit "Substitute" in their live sets.

The Who's 1978 album Who Are You kept the band relevant at the end of the decade.

The Who also wrote and performed Tommy, The First Rock Opera.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tommy is the fourth studio album by the English rock band the Who, released on 19 May 1969. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_(The_Who_album)#cite_note-2 Written primarily by guitarist Pete Townshend, Tommy is a double album and an early rock opera that tells the story of the fictional Tommy Walker and his path to becoming a spiritual leader and messianic figure.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_(The_Who_album)#cite_note-3

Townshend came up with the concept of Tommy after being introduced to the work of Indian spiritual teacher Meher Baba, and he attempted to translate Baba's ideas into music. Recording of the album began in September 1968, but took six months to complete as material needed to be arranged and re-recorded in the studio. The Who promoted the album's release with an extensive tour, including a live version of Tommy, which lasted throughout 1969 and 1970. Key gigs from the tour included appearances at Woodstock, the 1969 Isle of Wight Festival, the University of Leeds, the Metropolitan Opera House, and the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. The live performances of Tommy drew critical praise and revitalised the band's career.

Upon its release, Tommy was acclaimed by critics, who hailed it as the Who's breakthrough. Several writers view it as an important and influential album in the history of rock music. In 1998, Tommy was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Subsequently, the rock opera was developed into other media, including a ballet in Montreal in 1970, a Seattle Opera production in 1971, an orchestral version by Lou Reizner in 1972, a film directed by Ken Russell and featuring Jack Nicholson and Oliver Reed in 1975, and a Broadway musical in 1992.

Tommy has been reissued several times on CD, including a remix by Jon Astley in 1996, a deluxe Super Audio CD in 2003, and a super deluxe box set in 2013, including previously unreleased demos and live material.

Everyone has heard of WoodStock. A lesser and arguably as important music gathering was the Monterey Pop Festival.

The Monterey International Pop Festival was a three-day music festival held June 16 to 18, 1967, at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monterey_International_Pop_Festival#cite_note-1 The festival is remembered for the first major American appearances by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Who and Ravi Shankar, the first large-scale public performance of Janis Joplin and the introduction of Otis Redding to a mass American audience.

The festival embodied the theme of California as a focal point for the counterculture and generally is regarded as one of the beginnings of the "Summer of Love" in 1967 and the public debut of the hippie, flower power and flower children movements and era. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monterey_International_Pop_Festival#cite_note-2 Because Monterey was widely promoted and heavily attended, featured historic performances, and was the subject of a popular theatrical documentary film, it became an inspiration and a template for future music festivals, including the Woodstock Festival two years later. Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner said "Monterey was the nexus – it sprang from what the Beatles began, and from it sprang what followed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monterey_International_Pop_Festival#cite_note-3

I can only speculate the reason Jimi played with his teeth. There is the skill & showman part. Also, Jimi playing that way created a Unique Sound. Jimi Hendrix Explored Guitar.

The Who performed at the Monterey International Pop Festival on June 18, 1967. Their explosive performance of "My Generation" helped make them stars in the United States.

What happened during the performance?
The Who's performance was energetic and confrontational.

Pete Townshend smashed his guitar at the end of "My Generation" amid explosions and smoke bombs.

Roadies rushed on stage to save expensive microphones.

What was the festival like?
The Monterey Pop Festival was a three-day event that took place on the Pacific coast of California.

It was a turning point in rock music history and the center of the "Summer of Love".

The festival featured many of the biggest names in rock music, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Mamas and the Papas.

What was the impact of the festival?
The Monterey Pop Festival was one of the most influential festivals of all time.

It was the first major American appearances for the Who, Jimi Hendrix Experience, and Ravi Shankar.

Pete Townshend smashed guitars as a form of performance art and to get the audience's attention. He was the first rock guitarist to smash guitars on stage.

Explanation
Performance art
Townshend's guitar smashing was a form of performance art that was central to the Who's stage act.

Get the audience's attention
Townshend would smash his guitar to get the audience's attention, especially after he stopped smashing guitars for a while.

Art school education
Townshend's art school education and exposure to auto-destructive art pioneer Gustav Metzger may have influenced his guitar smashing.

Accident
The first time Townshend smashed a guitar was an accident that happened in 1966. He was playing in a club and the guitar hit the ceiling.
Aftermath
Townshend would collect the broken pieces of his guitars and glue them back together for the next gig. He worked out a process with his band so that the neck rarely broke, which made it easier to repair the body.

Search Engines like groupings of Subject Matter. Thanks for the Warning. I Appreciate the Concern.

I am cutting and pasting the descriptions straight from Google. I do not know Googles' search formula. If I were to code it, if I found Google related results, I would make it part of the ranking.

My line of thinking is get this foundation set.

Post videos with trivia and review.

Encourage others to do the same.

Answer questions or give information when asked.

Once in a while, give information when not asked.

Earlier I asked someone if they ever heard Helter Skelter. You know I was going to post it if you said yes or no.

The Beatles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Helter Skelter" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 album The Beatles (also known as the "White Album"). It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The song was McCartney's attempt to create a sound as loud and dirty as possible. It is regarded as a key influence in the early development of heavy metal. In 1976, the song was released as the B-side of "Got to Get You into My Life" in the United States, to promote the Capitol Records compilation Rock 'n' Roll Music.

Along with other tracks from the White Album, "Helter Skelter" was interpreted by cult leader Charles Manson as a message predicting inter-racial war in the US. A vision of this uprising was named after the song. Rolling Stone magazine ranked "Helter Skelter" 52nd on its list of "The 100 Greatest Beatles Songs". Siouxsie and the Banshees, Mötley Crüe, Aerosmith, U2, Oasis and Pat Benatar are among the artists who have covered the track, and McCartney has frequently performed it in concert.

Background and inspiration
[edit]
Helter skelter at Clacton Pier, in the English county of Essex
Paul McCartney was inspired to write "Helter Skelter" after reading an interview with the Who's Pete Townshend in which he described their September 1967 single, "I Can See for Miles", as the loudest, rawest, dirtiest song the Who had ever recorded. McCartney said he then wrote "Helter Skelter" to have "the most raucous vocal, the loudest drums". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMiles1997487–88-6 On 20 November 1968, two days before the release of The Beatles (also known as "the White Album"), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMiles2001314-7 McCartney gave Radio Luxembourg an exclusive interview, in which he commented on several of the album's songs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-FOOTNOTEWinn2009224-8 Speaking of "Helter Skelter", he said:

...I'd read a review of a record which said, "and this group really got us wild, there's echo on everything, they're screaming their heads off." And I just remember thinking, "Oh, it'd be great to do one. Pity they've done it. Must be great – really screaming record." And then I heard their record and it was quite straight, and it was very sort of sophisticated. It wasn't rough and screaming and tape echo at all. So I thought, "Oh well, we'll do one like that, then." And I had this song called "Helter Skelter," which is just a ridiculous song. So we did it like that, 'cos I like noise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-9
In British English, a helter skelter is a fairground attraction consisting of a tall spiral slide winding around a tower; however, the phrase can also mean chaos and disorder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-10 McCartney said that he was "using the symbol of a helter skelter as a ride from the top to the bottom; the rise and fall of the Roman Empire – and this was the fall, the demise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMiles1997487–88-6 He later said that the song was a response to critics who accused him of writing only sentimental ballads and being "the soppy one" of the band. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-FOOTNOTEThe_Beatles2000310–11-11 Although the song is credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership, it was written by McCartney alone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-FOOTNOTEWomack2014381–82-12 John Lennon acknowledged in a 1980 interview: "That's Paul completely. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helter_Skelter_(song)#cite_note-FOOTNOTESheff2000200-13

Here is some more Beatles.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Magical Mystery Tour is a record by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a double EP in the United Kingdom and an LP in the United States. It includes the soundtrack to the 1967 television film of the same name. The EP was issued in the UK on 8 December 1967 on the Parlophone label, while the Capitol Records LP release in the US and Canada occurred on 27 November and features an additional five songs that were originally released as singles that year. In 1976, Parlophone released the eleven-track LP in the UK.

When recording their new songs, the Beatles continued the studio experimentation that had typified Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) and the psychedelic sound they had pursued since Revolver (1966). The project was initiated by Paul McCartney in April 1967, but after the band recorded the song "Magical Mystery Tour", it lay dormant until the death of their manager, Brian Epstein, in late August. Recording then took place alongside filming and editing, and as the Beatles furthered their public association with Transcendental Meditation under teacher Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Magical Mystery Tour is a 1967 British made-for-television musical film written, produced, directed by, and starring the Beatles. It is the third film that starred the band and depicts a group of people on a coach tour (including the band members) who experience strange happenings caused by magicians (also played by the band as well as road manager Mal Evans). The premise was inspired by Ken Kesey's Furthur adventures with the Merry Pranksters and the then-popular coach trips from Liverpool to see the Blackpool Lights. Paul McCartney is credited with conceptualising and leading the project.

Much of Magical Mystery Tour was shot in and around RAF West Malling, a decommissioned military airfield in Kent, and the script was largely improvised. Shooting proceeded on the basis of a mostly handwritten collection of ideas, sketches and situations. The film is interspersed with musical interludes, which include the Beatles performing "I Am the Walrus" wearing animal masks and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band performing Vivian Stanshall and Neil Innes' "Death Cab for Cutie".

The film originally aired on BBC1, in black-and-white, on Boxing Day, 26 December 1967. A colour transmission followed on BBC2 on 5 January 1968. It received mixed reviews,<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Mystery_Tour_(film)#cite_note-revisited-3 although its accompanying soundtrack was a commercial and critical success. The film received an American theatrical release in 1974 by New Line Cinema, and in select theatres worldwide in 2012 by Apple Films.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Mystery_Tour_(film)#cite_note-4

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Beatles, commonly referred to as the White Album, is the ninth studio album and only double album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 22 November 1968. Featuring a plain white sleeve, the cover contains no graphics or text other than the band's name embossed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_(album)#cite_note-1 This was intended as a direct contrast to the vivid cover artwork of the band's previous LP, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967). The Beatles is recognized for its fragmentary style and diverse range of genres, including folk, country rock, British blues, ska, music hall, proto-metal and the avant-garde. It has since been viewed by some critics as a postmodern work, as well as one of the greatest albums of all time.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_(album)#cite_note-Orlando/NewYorker-2 The album was the band's first LP release on their then-recently founded Apple Records after previous albums were released on Parlophone in the United Kingdom and Capitol Records in the United States.

The Beatles received favourable reviews from most music critics; detractors found its satirical songs unimportant and apolitical amid the turbulent political and social climate of 1968. It topped record charts in Britain and the United States. No singles were issued in either territory, but "Hey Jude" and "Revolution" originated from the same recording sessions and were issued as a single in August 1968. The album has since been certified 24× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A remixed and expanded edition of the album was released in 2018 to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The Beatles - Back In The U.S.S.R. (2018 Mix / Lyric Video) YouTube video

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Back in the U.S.S.R." is a song by the English rock band the Beatles and the first track of the 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as the "White Album"). Written by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMiles1997422–423-3" the song is a parody of Chuck Berry's "Back in the U.S.A." and the Beach Boys' "California Girls". The lyrics subvert Berry's patriotic sentiments about the United States, as the narrator expresses relief upon returning home to the Soviet Union (officially named Union of Soviet Socialist Republics – USSR).

The Beatles recorded "Back in the U.S.S.R." as a three-piece after Ringo Starr temporarily left the group, in protest at McCartney's criticism of his drumming and the tensions that typified the sessions for the White Album. Instead, the other Beatles created a composite drum track from numerous takes. McCartney's singing was based on Jerry Lee Lewis, while the bridge features a Beach Boys–style celebration of girls from various parts of the USSR. The song opens and closes with a tape loop of an aircraft landing on a runway.

Released three months after the Warsaw Pact's invasion of Czechoslovakia, the Beatles' sympathetic portrayal of the USSR prompted condemnation in the West from both the New Left and the political right. In 1976, backed by "Twist and Shout", it was issued as a single to promote the compilation album Rock 'n' Roll Music. It peaked at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart and number 11 in Ireland. In 2003, McCartney performed the song in Moscow's Red Square. Elton John and Billy Joel have also released versions recorded during concerts in Russia.

Background and inspiration
[edit]
Paul McCartney began writing the song as "I'm Backing the UK", inspired by the "I'm Backing Britain" campaign, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMacDonald2005309–10-4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTESchaffner1978113-5 which had gained wide national support in January 1968, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-6 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-7 a month before the Beatles departed for India to undertake a course in Transcendental Meditation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTEQuantick200219–20,_68-8 According to author Ian MacDonald, McCartney altered the title to "I'm Backing the USSR" and then, drawing on Chuck Berry's 1959 hit song "Back in the U.S.A.", arrived at the song's eventual title. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMacDonald2005309–10-4 Donovan, the Scottish singer-songwriter who joined the Beatles in India, said that "Back in the U.S.S.R." was one of the "funny little ditties" that McCartney regularly played at the ashram, adding that "of course, melodious ballads just poured out of him". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTELeitch2005210-9

In a November 1968 interview for Radio Luxembourg, McCartney said the song was inspired by Berry's "Back in the U.S.A." and was written from the point of view of a Russian spy returning home to the USSR after an extended mission in the United States. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTEWinn2009224-10 Mike Love of the Beach Boys, another student at the meditation retreat, recalled McCartney playing "Back in the U.S.S.R." on acoustic guitar over breakfast in Rishikesh, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-11 at which point he suggested to McCartney that the bridge section should focus on the "girls" in Russia,<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMiles1997422-12 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-Paytress/MojoSpecial-13 in the style of the Beach Boys' "California Girls". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTELove2017185–86-14 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-15 In his 1984 interview with Playboy magazine, McCartney said he wrote it as "a kind of Beach Boys parody" based on "Back in the U.S.A." He added:

I just liked the idea of Georgia girls and talking about places like the Ukraine as if they were California, you know? It was also hands across the water, which I'm still conscious of. 'Cause they like us out there [in Soviet Russia], even though the bosses in the Kremlin may not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-16
In his lyrics, McCartney transposed the patriotism of Berry's song into a Soviet context.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTESchaffner1978113-5 He said that he intended it to be a "spoof" on the typical American international traveller's contention that "it's just so much better back home" and their yearning for the comforts of their homeland. McCartney said that, despite the lack of luxuries in the USSR, his Soviet traveller would "still be every bit as proud [of his home country] as an American would be". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-FOOTNOTEMiles1997422-12 According to author Michael Gray, "Back in the U.S.S.R." was the Beatles' sardonic comment on Berry's idealised Americana, which had become "deeply unfashionable" by the late 1960s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-17 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_the_U.S.S.R.#cite_note-19

The Beatles are so Great, they also wrote what I feel is the Worst Song In History.
Not going to post it here, it is Reveloution No. 9 and Charles Mansons' favorite.
He said it had a secret message that he understood.

Yoko ono is certainly eccentric, advant garde, and a bit of a gold digger, but she's not some evil witch who's only goal was to be a worm in Lennons ear and break up the Beatles. At the end of the day the hatred comes from racism and sexism.
There are other examples of women who are constantly blamed for their rockstar boyfriends bullshit. Nancy spungen and Courtney love for example. None of them were or are perfect women, but they aren't solely responible for their partners actions. All these men had the chance to choose their bands over their girls, they made the choice not to.

Yeah I think I've seen that clip of them cutting the mic. No question she definitely had mental issues, but so did Nancy spungen and Courtney love. Mental illness is not enough of a reason for all of these women to be so hated in pop culture. Maybe we need to question why these Rockstars always end up getting with mentally unstable women?

I'd argue Kurt was the mentally ill one in that relationship. There's only one interview with him smiling and it's a short clip from a narduar interview where he asks him about a guitar he designed. I feel like that archetype of angsty depressed star sort of died with the Xanax rappers like lil peep. Probably have to wait for a new genre now to mimic it now.

We now have an example of every band that performed at The Monterey International Pop Festival which was a three day music festival in Monterey, California in 1967. It was the first major rock festival in the United States. It took place from June 16–18, 1967 at Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California.

If I missed any of the performers up there in rock 'n roll heaven, blame Google.

Well yeah he was mentally unstable aswell but Courtney love also had a very horrible mental health history as a child. Her parents were always trying to get rid of her, they literally left her at the hippie commune they were living at and booked it to I think Australia? Without her. They didn't know how to handle her behavior so they essentially abandoned her. When the commune had enough and urged them to take her back she wasn't even allowed to go in the house. She had to live in a smaller unit near the house. Very similar to Nancy Spungen actually, she was constantly being sent to boarding schools, residentials, and summer camps so her parents could avoid her.

But yeah no shit Kurt also needed some serious help.

Last fight of the night was title vs title for unification and the local boy took home the gold. Killer of a fight absolute slobberknocker both of them put their heart and soul into it but a fuckin brutal elbow at the end of the 4th put an end to the evenings proceedings. Big up Reid and Kim for their jaw dropping performances. I'm a couple Es and 2 dozen beers deep now so expect some serious waffle later

Oh no doubt, but Kurt was likely going to game end himself no matter what she did. Most of the hate towards her stems from the conspiracy that she killed him and wrote the note and the constant arguments she had with people through the press and interviews. They both had pretty sad lives.

Oh yes absolutely, there was nothing she could do about it. And yeah that causes a lot of the hate, but she received alot of hate before his death and for more than just press. And my point was that all three women are blamed for essentially breaking up the bands. Sex pistols, Nirvana, and the Beatles would have all broken up because of internal conflicts with or without them. They at most speed things up.
